How to Style a Silk Scarf

A little guidance, endless possibilities.

Discover how to style a silk scarf with simple folds and considered details, from a classic neck tie to a soft accent in your hair.

A different twist can reveal a new colour, frame a detail or give a familiar piece an entirely different mood.

 Folding a Square Silk Scarf

For a long, narrow band, lay your scarf flat on a clean, smooth surface or your arm. Fold two opposite corners towards the centre, then continue folding the long edges inwards until you reach your preferred width. A narrow fold gives a neat finish; a wider fold shows more of the artwork. For more movement in the finished look, try folding the scarf from the broad diagonal towards the corners.

3 Ways to Style a Diamond Scarf

Items used for this look:

  • 1 chain bracelet
  • 1 String of pearls
  • Silk Diamond Scarf No. 19 - Rogue’s Compass

Three ways to pair a diamond silk scarf with jewellery or a crisp shirt.

With a chain bracelet

Drape the scarf around your neck with both ends falling forward. Tie one end to each end of a small chain bracelet.

Slide the knots along the chain to adjust the fit and position of the silk. Handle gently, keeping clasps and links from catching the fabric.

With pearls

Double or triple a strand of pearls to your preferred length, then place it around your neck.

Drape the scarf around your neck and thread each end through the corresponding end loop of the pearls. Bring the silk ends together beneath the main body of the scarf and tie gently.

Rotate the arrangement until the pearls sit along one side of your neck and the silk along the other.

With a shirt

Lay the scarf flat and fold the two smaller points towards the centre. Continue folding inwards until you have a smooth ribbon of silk.

Thread one end through the top buttonhole of your shirt and tie a neat knot.

A silk alternative to a tie, bringing a sharper finish to a crisp collar.
